Natural Hair 101:

There are so many information-packed websites about natural hair these days.  I will attempt to simplify all the things that I know, so that we have only bare bones essential information

1.  Never comb dry hair.  It will break and frizz.  Comb your curls wet with a wide-toothed comb or a Denman brush.

2.  Co-wash (conditioner wash) weekly.  Yes, you read that right.  Wash your hair with conditioner.  Most shampoos contain "sulfates."  These are basically detergents.  Eww!  There are too many conditioner choices to name.  I have pictured a few of my staples below.

3.  Avoid heat styling most of the time.  Blow drying, flat-ironing, and hot combing can cause irreparable heat damage.  More than 3 or 4 times a year seems risky.

4.  Learn the language.  Curly Nikki is a good place to start.

5.  Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel will become your best friend.

 5.  Another of my recent discoveries is Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie.  Ladies, this is my holy grail curling cream/moisturizer.  I write extensively about it here.
